The UW-Madison STEM diversity network is the online destination for resources related to STEM diversity on campus and beyond.
This website is funded by a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation to Ahna Skop at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. This site is a collaboration between Skop, two undergraduates (Olushola Kemi Olukoga & Kaitlin Morse), one graduate student (Jennifer Gilbert), Don Stanley (Life Sciences Communication), and Dean Tom Browne (CALS Academic Dean & Chair of CALS Equity and Diversity). The website is currently supported by a gift from the Office of the Provost through the Vice Provost for Faculty and Staff.
The main goals of the STEM diversity network are to:
- Catalyze communication and collaboration among students, faculty and staff on the UW-Madison campus in STEM fields.
- Provide resources and opportunities that allow undergraduates, graduate students, postdocs, and scientists to succeed in STEM fields.
- Provide means to connect and share the success of our students and faculty outside of the UW-Madison campus.
- Create community in STEM on the UW-Madison campus.
Mission statement
The University of Wisconsin-Madison recognizes the academic vitality and enrichment that accompany having a more diverse student body, faculty and staff. As such, the university strives to promote diversity on campus through the recruitment and retention of underrepresented members of our campus community. While several programs on campus offer support to students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds, the STEM Diversity Network is a place designed to help all interested in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) careers specifically. This network exists to aid the academic and social advancement of students (undergrad, grad, postdocs) in STEM by providing students with connections to other students, faculty, and resources available to help them succeed.
